Earthquake alerts issued as quake and tsunami threat to spread across the country

Earthquake alerts have been issued for most of Kerala, with the alert for Kannur, the state in West Bengal, on Tuesday night.
The alert was issued for all districts in Kerala and in parts of West Bengal.
The alerts come as the country faces a possible catastrophic earthquake that could be felt across the state and across the nation.
The epicentre of the quake was reported to be a depth of 2,965 kilometres in the state of Kerala.
The main fault line of the earthquake was located in the west coast of Kerala at the Nangambakkam and Palakkad districts.
Kerala, the second most populated state in India after Kerala, is home to around 11 million people.
