New York, Sept. 18, 2020 — The U.S. will have to buy $6.3 billion worth of new equipment to help contain the effects of a massive earthquake that could kill thousands in the United States, officials said Wednesday.
U.S.-Mexico border patrol officers and federal agents in Arizona are working around the clock to contain the temblor, which is the second-largest of its kind in the country in the past decade, according to the U.N. Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
The quake has also rattled the Mexican economy, causing some companies to close their doors and shuttered hospitals.
