Valdivia, California, November 21, 2020–(AP: John Angelillo)The epicenter of a powerful earthquake measuring magnitude 6.1 hit Valdivianas earthquake epicenter at a depth of nearly 300 kilometers (190 miles) and a depth more than 1,000 kilometers (726 miles) in the central portion of the state.
At least 29 people were killed and nearly 1,500 were injured as a result of the quake, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The epicenters of several other major earthquakes in the United States in recent weeks have all been centered in parts of Valdivias central region.
The most recent earthquake was magnitude 6 on Monday.
