What to Know About Miami’s Earthquake Warning System

The National Weather Service in Miami issued a tsunami warning for the Miami area on Monday afternoon, saying that a tsunami is expected at 10 p.m.

The Miami area is in the path of a magnitude 4.5 earthquake, according to the National Weather Services, with a tsunami at the surface expected at the center of the area.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The warning is in effect from 11 a.m.-4 p., and the tsunami warning lasts for 20 minutes, according the National Seismic Network.
The National Weather service says that there are no indications of a rupture of any of the faults that lie beneath the ground.
However, the area has seen numerous smaller quakes and slips in recent weeks.
