Posted October 19, 2019 05:18:33The ridgecrent earthquakes are continuing to strike the region, with a magnitude-5.7 earthquake in the town of Ridgecrest, south of the town center, according to the USGS.
The epicenter is located on the Colorado Plateau, about 25 miles east of the city of Denver.
There is no immediate danger to residents or property, and there is no official report on the magnitude of the quake.
However, according the US Geological Survey, “the area is very active, and this could be a precursor for more severe earthquakes in the future.”
At least two people have died, with one in critical condition and another in serious condition, according a USGS spokesperson.
The quake was centered near the town’s main downtown, and caused at least $3 million in damage.
The USGS said it is continuing to monitor the quake, and warned people to remain vigilant in the event of an earthquake.
